Ear Wax Removal
Are your ears feeling blocked?
Microsuction is the Gold Standard of Earwax removal. Earwax removal is a treatment which removes earwax using a suction device whilst looking into your ear with an Endoscope, which provides a clear view of the ear canal making it easier to remove earwax.
Microsuction is a safe procedure, is not painful, but can be loud. We give you frequent breaks to ensure you are comfortable and not overly exposed to the loud sound. We take photos of your ears before and after wax removal and can share these with you.

Common Symptoms of Earwax Build Up
- Earache
- Difficulty hearing
- Itchy ear / ears
- Dizziness
- Ear infection
- Sounds such as a high whistle in the ear /ears
If you have any of the above symptoms then it is very likely you need earwax removal.
Do i need to prepare my ears before Ear Wax Removal?
Everyone has a different consistency of earwax and therefore it is recommended that you use Earol Olive Oil or any other medical grade olive eardrops; You can buy them from most pharmacies and supermarkets. We would recommend using the drops for 4 -5 days before your appointment. To prepare your ears, apply the eardrops before bedtime instilling 2-3 drops in each ear. It is important to allow the ear drops to sit in your ear canal on the wax by tilting your head to the side for a few minutes, so this can be absorbed to soften wax. We do not advise using Otex Express or any eardrops containing Hydrogen Peroxide. Always consult your GP or pharmacist to ensure the eardrops are suitable.
If i have an ear infection, can you still treat my ears?
Microsuction is safe to perform when one has an outer ear infection. Removing pus, wax and any other infectious debris can help relieve the pain from the infection and allow you to hear better. If you are not being treated with antibiotic medication, please contact your GP so that you may be treated with medication to ensure the infection is treated thoroughly.
I have stuck a foreign body in my ear, can you remove this?
If you have managed to lodge a foreign object in your ear, we strongly recommend to NOT touch your ear at all. If there is sign of trauma and bleeding, please attend a walk-in centre or Accident & Emergency at your local hospital. If there is no trauma or bleeding please contact your GP Surgery to advise for removal.
What if you can’t remove all of the wax in one visit?
Provided that you instil Eorol ear drops as is advised, it is rare for us to not to remove all earwax in one visit. However in the event you require a further visit to clear stubborn wax we will not charge for this.
Do we do home visits?
Local home visits can be arranged upon request.
